• If you are or will be working with a youth near 14 or older, this training is for you. Fostering Futures will provide you with the tools to help youth achieve their potential. CASA volunteers and mentors will receive specialized training to help youth attain educational success, prepare for adulthood, increase access to living wage employment, and promote health. A specific emphasis is placed on engaging youth in the community, advising them on difficult decisions, opening doors and providing a sense of belonging—even after the youth’s court case closes. With a specific emphasis on Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), it explores relief options available to minor clients and includes an overview of what immigration matters you must consider making sure the minor's best future. Finally, it considers any impact a juvenile court proceeding could have on a minor's federal immigration journey.
